felt rings | new to moyou

Things have been rather quiet on the Moyou blog front in recent weeks—my apologies for the lull...I'm afraid that daily life has been rather overwhelming of late but things are starting to settle a little now. And thankfully I have internet access at home again (greatly missed for a short period after moving house!)

So to launch back into the blog realm I'd like to introduce you to my new range of felt rings. *Felt!?*—I hear you say. Yes, felt! Beautiful, soft, tactile felt.

These gorgeous rings feature a segment of an original Moyou pattern that I have personally designed laser cut into beautiful 100% wool felt. This medium is a renewable and environmentally friendly resource and I'm so excited to be able to use it to transfer my intricate textile designs into jewellery.

For a closer look you can find these unique rings in my etsy store...and be sure to keep your eye out for my limited time FREE shipping offer on 'new items'!

A lovely interview |
Over the weekend I was interviewed by the lovely Amy (of Doobleh–vay) for the wonderful Scoutie Girl blog. Amy is writing a new feature for Scoutie Girl titled Brief Introductions, where she chats with indie designers & artists. I was lucky enough to be invited to participate and the interview was posted yesterday—you can find the whole post here if you would like to read more :)
Thank you Amy & Scoutie Girl!

These gorgeous accessories are so very light and so beautifully patterned—you won't find anything else quite like them!

new (reduced) etsy shipping prices

Following on from my etsy pricing dilemma post yesterday, I have made some adjustments in my etsy store. Due to recent fluctuations in currency values I have reduced my shipping prices on ALL items to maintain competitive pricing in the current market.

The big news |
Every item now has FREE postage within Australia!! (and international shipping prices have been drastically reduced!) So if you're thinking about Christmas presents, or would just like a look, please feel free to visit my shop.

I have just finished updating my etsy store with assorted fabric packs & fabric pieces from my new fabric range...*yippee!*.

These pieces and packs would be great for any small crafty project—suitable for anything from patchwork to purses. Let your imagination run free!

etsy treasury

This will just be a quick post today as time keeps slipping away and I feel like I have more and more to do. Thank you for the lovely feedback on my new tea towels—I really appreciate the positive reinforcement!

This morning I spent quite a lot of time on the phone (organising various business bits and pieces), and getting my head around some freelance designing I'm currently working on (hopefully I can tell you some more about that as the project progresses)...but that is keeping me well and truly out of mischief.

Following my morning of organising, I went to go on a short business mission in my car...only to find that it had been broken into overnight so more of my day was consumed with tidying it up and reporting the break–in to the police. Thankfully nothing much was stolen (only about $0.50 in coins, would you believe!?) and they didn't manage to steal my car, even though they obviously tried. I just feel so very lucky to still have it!

On a happier note (or two):
>> The very lovely Danielle from Of Paper & Thread curated a beautiful etsy treasury listing yesterday (her first one!). Congratulations Danielle...and thanks so much for including my Alphabet-o-Graphic Screenprinted Linen Tea Towel.

>> The fabulous Julie (aka Market Girl)—wonderful organiser of Canberra's Handmade Market—wrote a lovely post about my new range on the Handmade Market blog. Please feel free to pop over and have a look :)

screenprinted linen tea towels | a new range

Yippee!! I couldn't wait until Friday (tomorrow) to post about my new range because I'm really excited. It is so nice to be printing again! I've really missed it. So without any further ado, may I introduce you to my new screenprinted linen tea towel range...

I have printed 2 different patterns in black (with environmentally friendly, water–based ink) on 100% linen in a gorgeous natural colour. Both of these designs have been added to my etsy store.

I would love to read your feedback about this new range and these patterns, so please feel free to leave a comment here on my blog. And keep your eye on this space because I'm sure there will be more tea towels (with new patterns and new coloured prints) coming soon.

etsy front page

I'm so very very excited! After logging in to etsy this morning I realised that something extraordinary must have happened because my item view counts were up a lot more than they usually are within a day...and one in particular had jumped exponentially. Eep!. At this point I was thinking...*I must have been featured in a treasury listing*.

Wandering over to the treasury I passed the front page...and lo-and-behold...not only had the lovely Copabananas featured one of my little Kuma Wheat Toys...but her listing had been selected for the front page. *yay yay!!*. Thanks so much!!

new kuma wheat toys | new button rings | an introduction to a new site & a lovely post...*whew!*

I have spent the majority of my day today photographing, uploading and updating. I've been busy adding new kuma wheat toys and new button rings to my etsy store and a new store that I have started with Art Flock.

The lovely Sharon, of Sharon B's: In A Minute Ago, introduced me to Art Flock a couple of days ago. It is an alternative to Etsy and is free in so far as they don't charge listing fees but commission rates start at 3.5%. It can also be used as a basic business website because you are able to upload a portfolio of work, import a blog (from elsewhere) and list current stockists/exhibitions. All good things to know! I was pretty excited by this new prospect and jumped in straight away :)

I would also like to send a BIG thank you out to Sharon for writing a lovely post about Moyou on her blog. I was really touched - thank you so much!

etsy treasury front page!

*yay yay yay!!*

I waited and waited and waited last night - for a couple of hours for the treasury to drop below 333...and pounced!! I made this treasury collection of some of my favourite green items. It's titled 'the shades and ways of green: a collection of lovely items'. I've added a screen shot to this post for when my listing expires.

Even better still...I found out that my treasury hit the front page of etsy about 2-3hours ago (7:30-8:30am EST) and had lots of wonderful wonderful comments and lovely feedback. How exciting! :)

moving forward

I'm finding it hard to believe that it's only Tuesday evening. The last few days have been so full that it feels like Wednesday or Thursday already!

I'm feeling much happier about the amount of time that I have to dedicate to my assignments now. 4 down...7 to go!! Go Amy, go!!

I spent the majority of today working on the graphics and logo for moyou (you may have noticed the new header already). It may need some tweaking still...I'm not sure that I'm entirely happy with it yet...but then I stop and ask myself 'will I ever be?'. I'm not sure that I will! I think I'm content to let it evolve as I progress.

So with graphics in hand I started my new etsy store. I've only uploaded one handbag so far but there will be more items to follow at a later date (once the study is under control...or done!). I'll slowly be making the move from hizashi over to moyou as listings end...as I'm in the process of registering moyou as my business name. It's exciting...the reality of it all is starting to seep in :)

To end the day on a happy note, I caught up with a good friend tonight for a milkshake and a chat...and arrived home afterwards to find a parcel waiting for me!! I love mail!! I'll leave you with some pictures of my new stamps. I can't wait to have some time to play with them!!

gocco gocco gocco

*dn dn dn dnnnn* (drumroll)

My much anticipated (and very loved) Gocco arrived last Friday (a BIG thank you to Leslie)...and after I arrived back from my weekend away I was able to play with it!! I'm SO excited (still). I just can't wait to play some more. Love love love.

My very first gocco experience was with printing some cards (which have now gone up in my etsy store) with an original design that I created as a textile pattern and manipulated to use as a graphic. All in all I must say that I'm very happy. It will still take a little more practice I think...but practicing is the fun part!! :)
