'beautiful neutrals' makes etsy front page

*Yay Yay Yay!!*

Meet 'beautiful neutrals: a selection of the lovely items etsy has to offer'. It is an etsy treasury listing that I made last night and happened across on the front page today!!

It will be listed until Saturday June 28 at 3:54am etsy time. I believe it was up on the front page from 1pm-2pm EST and I was lucky enough to come across it there at about 1:50pm...with 10 minutes to spare! It was such a lovely surprise to see my listing in action right there before my eyes :)

back in the office

Another weekend has come and gone...and another Sunday at the Old Bus Depot Markets. I had a great day on Sunday - met lots of lovely people, had a few visitors, received lots of positive feedback and had a few sales as well. I have organised to become a regular stall-holder (rather than be casual) and this means that within a few weeks I should have a permanent spot - instead of being in a different place each week.

Now that it's Monday I'm back in the office (so to speak) and preparing for the coming week/s. I've just finished stamping and packaging my new range of print gocco cards - which are now listed in my etsy store. Yay :)

new gocco cards in the works

I spent the majority of my afternoon yesterday playing with my print gocco. It was only the second time I have managed to pull it out but I do look forward to using it a little more regularly now. It's so much fun!

I printed a new range of cards and gift tags - a new pattern and a new colour. Expanding the range. I'm very happy with them :)

...and I finally worked out how everyone makes the beautiful collage pictures on their blogs thanks to a tip-off in a post by the lovely Melanie of Kimono Reincarnate - thank you!!

etsy treasury front page!

*yay yay yay!!*

I waited and waited and waited last night - for a couple of hours for the treasury to drop below 333...and pounced!! I made this treasury collection of some of my favourite green items. It's titled 'the shades and ways of green: a collection of lovely items'. I've added a screen shot to this post for when my listing expires.

Even better still...I found out that my treasury hit the front page of etsy about 2-3hours ago (7:30-8:30am EST) and had lots of wonderful wonderful comments and lovely feedback. How exciting! :)

tapestry symposium, LAND & Yasuko Fujino

This is a rather belated post that I have been meaning to write for a while now...and today is the day.

I mentioned in a few previous posts (a few months ago now) that I was assisting in the textiles department at ANU to unpack, label and catalogue entries for the LAND exhibition that was being held as part of the tapestry symposium 'Tapestry 2008'. A blog has been created (by the wonderful Belinda) to share information and images, and to discuss the event. I just wanted to thank Belinda (and anyone else involved) for this little snippet :) Thank you! Assisting with LAND was an amazing experience all round.

I also wanted to make mention of a fabulous Japanese tapestry artist - Yasuko Fujino. I had the absolute pleasure of being invited to assist Yasuko with her floor-talks as part of her involvement in 'The Fine Art of Tapestry Weaving'. Yasuko's English is wonderful and I am convinced that she didn't need my assistance - my Japanese is a little rusty these days - so suffice to say, her talks were fantastic!

I was completely honoured, humbled and flabbergasted when Yasuko presented me with this GORGEOUS gift at the conclusion of her second talk. This amazing tapestry was part of an exhibition called 'L'Harmas' which was held at GalleryGallery in Kyoto back in January 2007. It is part of a large series of tiny insect wings (a hundred or more I believe) - butterfly and moth - that are amazingly fine and woven on a traditional Japanese loom (usually used to weave obi's). Yasuko hand-dyes and spins all of her silk threads before she even begins weaving these intricate, delicate tapestries. Such an amazing feat!! It makes the Western concept of 'time-consuming' seem very inadequate! Needless to say, this special little work has taken pride of place on my desk and I am helplessly in love with it!!

catching up with myself

Where does the time get to? Hours and then days and then weeks just keep rolling into each other and all of a sudden it is the middle of June. Woah!

My little business is officially 2 weeks and 1 day old today. *Hip hip hooray!!*. I am very happy with progress so far and I'm really looking forward to the coming weekend and my third market day.

I must say a BIG thank you to everyone for their ongoing support, good wishes and the enormous amount of positive feedback that I have received - both here in blog-land and in the real world - you have all been so lovely! *Thank you, thank you!!*. I appreciate every ounce of positive reinforcement. Thank you to friends who have dropped in on my stall at the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston over the past 2 weeks to show support and to keep me company. And Miss Nina Ribena (of Canberra's Got Style) - you gorgeous girl! - thank you for your continued support, visit and lovely write up on my market debut :)
